Lewis Eldon Yates born April 3, 1929, in Lake Point, Utah, to Charles Harris & Mamie Hammond Yates, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 16, 2011.
Dad lived and enjoyed his entire life living in Lake Point, Utah.
He joined the army in 1950 and served his country for 18 months rebuilding Germany after WWII.
He married his sweetheart Carla Dutson on November 21, 1952, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they were blessed with 5 children: LaRee(Jim) Walsh-Phoenix, AZ, Kim (Beverly)-Elwood, UT, Mike (Elisabeth)-Tremonton, UT, Russell (Allyson)-Lake Point, UT, and Denise (Karl) Huffaker-Lake Point, UT, 26 Grandchildren, and 16 Great-grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Home teacher, 2nd Counselor in the bishopric and enjoyed his service to the members of the church and the association with them.
Dad enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing and good hard work. He especially enjoyed hunting pheasants over a good German short hair dog.
He is survived by his wife, children and brothers: Chet (Radean)-Rigby, ID, Delbert (JoAnn)-St. George, UT, and Grant (Joyce)-Deer Park, WA. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glen, Jerald, and sisters Genevieve, Effie, and Bernice. He will be missed by his family and friends but we look forward to the time when we will be together again.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday Dec. 21 at 11 AM in the Lake Point LDS Chapel 1366 Canyon Rd, Lake Point, Utah.
Visitation 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Tate Mortuary 110 South Main, Tooele, Utah and 9:30 to 10:30 Wednesday at the church.
Interment, Lake Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Primary Children's Hospital.
