Ladd Edward Davies, age 81, passed away on December 21, 2011, in his home in Burbank, Utah. Ladd was born in Fillmore, Utah on August 27, 1930, the youngest child of William and Anna Davies. He lived his entire life in Burbank, located in Snake Valley on the west desert of Utah.

Ladd was a true cowboy and throughout his life he characterized the spirit and independence of the American West. He owned and operated Davies Ranch for most of his life. In a time when many small ranches struggled to survive, Ladd's ranching expertise and hard work kept his ranch running and successful. Ladd also pursued many other part-time jobs including diesel truck driver, surveyor, hunting guide, and water hauler. Throughout his life, Ladd loved rodeo. He was a highly skilled team roper, recognized throughout Utah and Nevada for his exceptional skills. From his childhood, Ladd loved hunting, and spent many years hunting alone and with others. Ladd was married to Patricia Gilson for twenty-five years and together they raised three children. Ladd co-wrote and published his autobiography, Last Man Standing, which many people read and enjoyed. Ladd will be remembered for being a generous, loyal friend to many people. He was a good conversationalist who had a knack for making people feel good about themselves.

Of all his many achievements, Ladd was most proud of his children. He is survived by Tracy (Bob) Jones, Rockville, Utah; Cindy (Michael) Ortega, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Kirk (Cynthia) Davies, Okinawa, Japan. He has nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ladd was also like a father to his nieces and nephews. His twin boys and his three sisters: Arvilla, Wilna and Leona, all predeceased him. Ladd's family would like to give special thanks to his hardworking, angel caregiver, Ginger Magner, who served him with great compassion and kindness.

Memorial Services will be held at the Garrison, Utah, LDS Church at 10:00 AM MST, on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

Flowers may be sent through Sassy Stems in Milford, UT.

Ladds life was amazing. He truly is the only real cowboy I've ever known. I think back on all the times we spent with all of you guys and remember being so impressed by Ladd. It is obvious what a wonderful man he was, just by looking at his family and friends. He will truly be missed. All of our Love and prayers are with all of you.
