Dora Ruth Boyles Beaver

Dora Ruth Boyles Beaver passed away on January 20, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah after many years struggling with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). She was born May 5, 1922 in Ravenna, Portage County, Ohio. She is a daughter of Harold Frank Boyles and Charlotte M. Perry Boyles. Dora graduated from Ravenna High School class of 1940 and attended Boheckers Business College (now known as Fortis College Ravenna) in 1941. She relocated to Kansas City, Missouriin the 1940s for employment where she met James Thomas Beaver. Dora and Jim married on June 15, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri. This marriage produced three daughters. James died suddenly of a malignant brain tumor on April 27, 1954 leaving Dora a widow at age of 31 to raise her three young daughters. Dora returned to Ravennato live near family for several years until she and her daughters moved to Roy,Utah in 1966. Dora lived in Roy and the Ogden, Utah area until 1989 when she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. For 21 years she was a resident of the Friendly Neighborhood Senior Housing in Salt Lake. When her health got so she shouldnt live alone she left the Friendly Neighborhood Senior Housing to move in with her daughter Linda where she was living at the time of her death. Dora enjoyed working cryptograms, crossword puzzles, word search puzzles and the like. She was accomplished with a needle and thread and worked as a professional seamstress for several years to support her family. She also was talented with craft projects. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor even in the midst of some dementia. Dora was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her daughters Linda Lee (Randall) Petersen of Salt Lake City, Utah; Patricia Ann Beaver and Charlotta Jo Beaver both of Fresno, California; sisters Gladys (Boyd) Walters and Eunice Boyles both of Ravenna,Ohio and brother-in-law Jack Beaver (Hilda) of Kansas City, Missouri and other extended family. Dora was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Family graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South.
