Ethel Virginia Gegogeine Zinz
May 30, 1930 ~ May 2, 2012
North Ogden - Ethel Virginia Gegogeine Zinz, 81, returned to her Heavenly Father peacefully on May 2, 2012 in her home. Ethel was born May 30, 1930, in Oil City, Pennsylvania. She was the 12th of 13 children of Thomas Fredrick Gegogeine and Anna Myrtle Fitterer. Ethel married Jerold Richard Zinz on March 3, 1956, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, where they lived most of their adult life and raised their four children.
Ethel and her husband, Jerold, are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They were sealed as husband and wife for all time and eternity on March 3, 1978, in the Washington DC Temple. They jointly served valiantly as missionaries in the Nebraska Omaha Mission. Of all of her many services and callings for the LDS Church, her mission time in Nebraska, was her most memorable and enjoyed. After converting to the church, she spent her life bearing her testimony and being a positive example to all her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren to the very end. Her favorite motto, shared with her great grandson, Nathan, is, "We Love Everyone".
Her love for her family goes without saying. She also had a great love for all people and for the Gospel, always and forever being a missionary. You might say, living her beliefs in the Gospel was her way of life. She had a very giving heart to all in need, clear to the end. She was especially known for, and will be remembered for, her wonderful hugs to everyone.
In her younger years, she and her husband loved to ride motorcycles, taking trips and vacations. She also became very fond of reading, shopping and working jig-saw puzzles.
Later in life, she, with her husband, moved to Linwood, North Carolina where they made their home with their daughter, Mary and her husband, Harold, for 4 years. Then they moved to North Ogden, Utah in 2008, where they have made their home with their son, Alan and his wife, Patty.
She is survived by her husband, children: Alan Eugene Zinz (Patricia Ann Kalamajka) of North Ogden, UT, Michael Lee Zinz (Sandra Kay McGee) of Marble Hill, MO, Ralph Thomas Zinz (Nancy Lee Sherman) of Warsaw, IN, and Mary Emma Zinz Howard (Harold Cleveland Howard) of Pocatello, ID. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings: Mary Ellen Gegogeine, Myrtle Jane Kinch, Viola Pearl Ross, Clarence Fredrick Gegogeine, Lena Idell Petrovich, Boyd James Gegogeine, Edna Geraldine Gegogeine, Twila Marie Pollino, George Joseph Gegogeine, Ralph Thomas Gegogeine, Clyde William Gegogeine, and her twin sister, Evelyn Mae Allebaugh and two grandsons, Joseph Alan Zinz and Shawn Alan Zinz.
Her family would like to thank all those caring for her in the end with a special thanks to her wonderfully knowledgeable and caring Intermountain Hospice Team.
