She was raised on the family farm in Lake Shore, where she learned the value of hard work. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School. At the end of World War II, she met Robert James Andrews; they were married December 12, 1946 in Lake Shore. In 1963, they were sealed in the Manti Temple. They were married 61 years. Together, they had three children: Don, Janell, and Joe.
Verona was a member of The LDS Church, serving faithfully in many positions. She enjoyed serving others throughout her life.
Verona was a very hard worker, working on Spanish Fork Main Street most of her life. She started at Forsey’s Variety Store, then Denny’s, Dukes Lanes, and Wil’s Foodland (where she was known as the cookie lady). After Wil’s closed, she started managing the Snack Shack at the Spanish Fork Ball Park. While working at the ball park, she also worked days at Stone Drug.
She was very proud of the nick-name Joe and his friends gave her, “Big V.”
Verona started collecting cans in the 1970's. With some of this money, she donated benches at the ball park in Joe’s name, after his untimely death in 1991. Later, she donated the money from the cans to Spanish Fork High School’s athletic department. She received an award for “Volunteer Of The Year” from the Utah High School Activities Association. She loved being busy and talking to people. Bob and Verona enjoyed traveling, making many trips to New York, where Bob was from.
