Cherril Jones

Cherril Palmer Jones passed away peacefully in her home in Palmyra, Utah on Sunday, August 19, 2012. She was surrounded by her family who are her greatest joy.

Cherril was born on October 6, 1934 to Freeman Moses Palmer and Mahala Antonette Davis in Thatcher, Arizona. She married Rollo Sheldon Jones on March 10, 1954 in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Cherril was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints She served in numerous callings with a special love for primary children and primary music.

Cherril graduated from Brigham Young University in 1981 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten for twenty years at Salem Elementary School where she was loved and respected by hundreds of children.

Cherril is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Rollo Sheldon Jones; their five children, Michele (Paul) Hawker, Teresa (Mikel) Minor, Melanie (Lonnie) Patten, Christi (Shaun) Bufton, and Michael (Marnie) Jones; one sister, Janell (Frank) Reeve; and three brothers, Darvol (Arlene) Palmer, David (Janine) Palmer, and Monte (Suzette) Palmer. She has 18 adoring grandchildren (with one more on the way) and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ann Lewis; and her brother, Daniel Palmer.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the hard working, caring staff at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Utah Valley Specialty Hospital, and Envision Home Health & Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00am, in the Palmyra Ward Chapel, 1866 W 5000 S, Palmyra, UT (I-15 exit 260 westbound). Friends and family may also visit Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00pm at the Palmyra Ward meetinghouse and one hour prior to services on Thursday morning. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery, 700 S State St., Provo, UT.
