Lane W Heaps 51, returned to a place of peace on October 21, 2012 in Murray, Utah surrounded by family and friends. He was born on February 3, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Willard Heaps and Charlene Brown (Wang). He was the second of four children: Terri, Corey, and Julie.
Lane graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1979. He had a great love of baseball and football, which he played throughout his life. He served an LDS mission in Colombia from 1980-1982 where he baptized many people.
Lane married Irene Anderson in 1983 and they had 3 daughters together. They later divorced. He married the love of his life Roslyn Rainey on November 9, 1996 in Nassau, Bahamas. Roslyn had two children whom he loved as his own.
Lane started working for the Salt Lake City Police Department in 1988 and retired in 2008. He later wrote articles for City Weekly, which he sincerely enjoyed being the avid reader and writer he was.
Lane is survived by his wife, Roslyn; children, Cassandra (Adam) Webster, Nicole (Jeremiah) Lance, Sterling Harper, Morgan (Michael) Hanson; 4 grandchildren; mother, Charlene (Bjorn) Wang; stepmother, Merlynne Heaps; siblings, Terri Heaps, Corey (Carolyn) Heaps, Julie (Rob) Shiner and 8 stepsiblings.
Preceded in death by his father Willard Heaps, daughter Marie Amie Heaps, and grandparents.
A celebration of his life will take place on Monday October 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Noah’s. 322 W. 11000 S. South Jordan, UT 84095
