Grant Norris Anderson

Grant Norris Anderson, 24, of Callao, Utah, lost his life August 20, 2011 by drowning at Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Wyoming. He was surrounded by family and friends who valiantly searched to extend his life.

Grant was born November 14, 1986 to Don V. and Beth B. Anderson in Tucson, Arizona. He moved with his family to the cattle ranch in Callao when he was 8 years old, where he learned and enjoyed all aspects of the ranch life including raising 4-H livestock and especially working with his family.

He graduated from West Desert High School in 2005 excelling in academics and sports. His athletic abilities proved that great things come in small packages.

He went to Portland, Oregon, as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He earned his associate degree from Dixie State University and later attended Portland State University as he enjoyed the beauty of Oregon. He moved back to Callao this spring where he planned on carrying out his dream to be at the ranch.

Grant had a talent of working with horses and was a skilled mechanic. He was a natural tease (which his sisters-in-law can attest to) and a skilled flirt (with his long eyelashes). He was ever so happy, helpful and loved life. He had a special impact on everyone that he met and was everyone's “Buddy�. He was impossible to be angry with. Grant was one of those people with the inner light that lit the world around him. God always seems to call the best home.

Grant is survived by his parents Don and Beth, brothers Russel (Kim), Wayne (Lacy), Newel (Jessie), and sister Marci, niece Evelyn, Granddad Norris D. Anderson, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his kitty, “Mr. Cat�.

Services and viewings will be held at the LDS Chapel located at 2080 E. 5165 S. (Highland Drive) Holladay, Utah.

Viewing Thursday evening August 25, 2011 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday August 26, 2011 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.

Burial at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S., Salt Lake City, Utah. Special thanks go out to the many individuals and agencies that helped in the search and rescue.
