
Alene Stewart

Alene Bills Stewart passed away August 7, 2012 in Ephraim, UT. Alene, the daughter of Charles and Annie Bills, was born on 4 June, 1919 in Fairview, Utah and was given the name of Sarah Alene Bills.
Following her graduation from North Sanpete High School she married Burke Stewart on October 25, 1937. They made their home in Salt Lake City for a short time and then moved to Layton, Utah. She was later sealed to Burke in the Manti Temple.
Alene and Burke were the parents of three children, Ruth (Dan) Brinkerhoff, of Fairview, Utah; Janice (Gerald) Jones; and Gayle (Sue) Stewart of Layton, Utah.
Alene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and lived in the boundaries of the Layton Park Ward where she was active in the Relief Society and served as compassionate service leader for a number of years.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served in various leadership roles in that organization. She worked at the ZCMI drapery workroom for many years.
One enjoyable hobby that she had was collecting dolls, some of which she made and dressed. She also made lovely quilts and presented one to each of her three children and seventeen grandchildren as a Christmas gift one year. She also enjoyed ceramic projects and painting.
Burke and Alene enjoyed time together as the were able to hike and fish and camp for many years. They loved to travel and spent much time sightseeing and visiting family and friends throughout the United States and Canada.
Her posterity now includes five generations. Alene loved to entertain her grandchildren and truly enjoyed the birth of each new baby.
She is survived by her three children, eighteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burke Stewart, as well as her brother and sisters, Wendle (Fawn) Bills; Laura (Clarence) Wilcox; Ethel (Henry) Wheeler; and a young sister Alice Bills; also a grandson, Matthew Brinkerhoff and great grandchildren Misty and Alex Brinkerhoff, as well as other special extended family members.
Special thanks are given to the staff at Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center in Ephraim and the associates of the Hospice program.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Fairview LDS Church meetinghouse located at 131 E. 100 N. (Rock Church) at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will precede the services from 11:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment in the Fairview Cemetery. Online condolences available at www.rasmussenmortuary.com
