John Gallacher passed away in St. George, Utah on July 2, 2011. He was born July 28, 1933 in Prestwick, Scotland to James Gallacher and Elizabeth Brown.
John was retired from the printing trade where he had worked as technical book publishers which were used in Universities and for educational purposes. John immigrated to America in 1963 and lived in Ohio, Utah and Indiana.
He married Helen Clark Young in August 1958 in Scotland. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many Church callings such as Bishop, a High Councilor and Stake Patriarch in the Cleveland Stake in Cleveland, Ohio and also in the Bountiful East Stake in Bountiful, Utah. He loved the Gospel and he loved people.
He was a golf enthusiast and also enjoyed traveling. He was the kindest man, very generous and faithful, an amazingly good man. He truly loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of St. George, Utah; son Graham Gallacher of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Sandra Wilson of Amherst, Ohio and grandchildren, Brittany, Kylee, Shay, Jamie, Jordan and Meghan; brother Robert Gallacher and sister Jean Brownlow. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Gallacher and Elizabeth Brown Gallacher and brother Jim Gallacher.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cotton Mill Ward, 807 W. Copilla Rd., St. George, UT.
Visitations will be on Wednesday, July 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary 110 S, Bluff, St. George, and again on Thursday, July 7th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel on Copilla Road.
Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
